Good news for employees of the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ASB). Full-time student membership ($20)

Discounted student membership of SSA is available to those who are engaged in full-time studies and do not have an income.  If you earn a salary you will generally not qualify for student membership.  If you are unsure of your status please feel free to contact SSA at eo@statsoc.org.au with information about your student status and employment status (full-time, part-time, casual or permanent, name of employer) and an individual assessment will be made.

Please email evidence of your current full-time enrolment status to the SSA Office after signing up. This can be either a copy of the student identity card issued by the educational institution or a document providing evidence signed and verified by the institution.  If proof of full-time student status has not been received within 14 days of signing up with SSA, the membership application will be rejected and a refund issued, minus a $10 admin fee. Student members will receive the weekly SSA newsletter and have online access to four copies of the "Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics" and six electronic issues of "Significance" each year.

Early Career Membership ($140)

This discounted level of membership is available to members transitioning or having transitioned from full-time university studies to employment within the last three years. The fee is half the cost of full membership, with all the benefits of full membership.

Transitional membership ($140)

On a career break? If you are on parental leave and not earning an income, or unemployed, this discounted level of membership is for you.  The fee is half the cost of full membership, with all the benefits of full membership.

Retired membership ($140)

This Membership is available to retired Statisticians, regardless of whether or not they were members of SSA during their careers. Retired  members will receive the weekly SSA newsletter and have online access to four copies of the "Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics" and six electronic issues of "Significance" each year.

Perpetual membership

If you are over 50, have been a member for ten or more years,  and you like the idea of paying for your membership once and never again having to think about renewing it or scrambling for invoices at tax time, this membership type is for you. Contact the SSA Office for a quote.

Group Membership
Group membership is a great solution for organisations seeking to register more than four members. On request, the SSA will provide a complimentary fifth membership for every four members.  The complimentary membership will be of an equal or lower membership category as the batch of four.  Please note that the membership fee for your employees will not be refunded if they leave your organisation.
Current members are excluded from the offer, but they can sign up as part of a new group. Contact the SSA Office for more information on group memberships.

Full membership for members of the NZSA ($225)

Members of the NZSA receive a discount on SSA's full membership fee (see current fees here).  Accredited members please contact the SSA Office to change to this membership type. Members will need to provide proof of their current membership with NZSA.

Subscriber-ANZSTAT Discussion Forum (no cost)

This is not actually a membership with SSA. Being a subscriber only allows you to post and comment on the ANZSTAT discussion forum.  This category does not include any member benefits, such as discounts to events, access to the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics or reduced subscription rates to "Significance". There is no fee for Subscribers.

Annual accreditation fee ($55)

In addition to their membership fee, AStat accredited members pay an annual Accreditation Fee of $55 AUD.

Change of mind?

If you take out paid membership and change your mind within a month of becoming a member, we will credit your membership fee back to you,  provided you have not attended any member-only events or attended events where you took advantage of a member discount.  A $20 admin fee will apply.  Please email the SSA Office if you have changed your mind.
