What could we expect from randomly selected samples for estimating the prevalence of COVID-19?

Professor David Steel
University of Wollongong

Abstract

The prevalence of COVID-19 in the population is still very low, which means that the number of cases that would be found in a random sample is expected to also be very low, leading to confidence intervals that may be regarded as relatively wide. This talk will consider the reliability and usefulness of estimates that different sized samples and methods might be able to provide.
