Join us after the Belz Lecture where we'll be entertained by Simon Pampena in his comedy show, The Probability Drive. We don't want to give anything away, but we're certain you'll have a good time – there will be laughs, door prizes, and some socialising following the show.

The Probability Drive

Life is just a chaotic series of events without purpose or meaning...unless you are a statistician. Then, everything makes sense. Simon Pampena is a stand-up mathematician who, like Steven Bradbury, knows the true power of a p-value.

About Simon

A world renowned mathematical communicator with over 15 years experience performing for audiences in the US, UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Brazil, and all across Australia. Simon was appointed the Australian Numeracy Ambassador from 2009 to 2017 and is a presenter on Discovery Channel’s Outrageous Acts of Science and groundbreaking YouTube channel Numberphile. His pioneering blend of comedy and mathematics has been wowing crowds around the world with numerous seasons at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe and the Edinburgh International Science Festival. Combining comedy, story-telling, and performance with a deep love for mathematics, Simon has forged a unique career bringing an important subject area to life for a wide audience.

After the show

Following Simon's show we will be using Airmeet to visit the e-pub (the fun kind of e-pub) to chat, have fun, and most importantly, announce the winners of our door prizes. Those who attend have the opportunity to go in the draw to win one of the one of the following door prizes we have on offer:

  • Book vouchers
  • Vouchers for a professional headshot
  • Vouchers to attend a workshop of your choice (valued up to $300)

Please note that when you register for the event you will need to opt in to enter the draw. The prizes are only available to those residing in Australia.
