This walk should take about 2 hours each way from the university. Mt Keira is a local landmark of Wollongong, towering 463.9 metres high and casting its protective shadow over this beautiful city. It’s located just four kilometres northwest of Wollongong's Central Business District; it forms part of the Illawarra escarpment and provides sweeping views over Wollongong. We will hopefully have a guide to walk you to the lookout and back.
This route is a great workout and a fantastic excursion into the bush around Mount Keira.Beginning from the car park at Mount Keira Summit the track descends and loops around the base, crossing the road a few times. The track is stellar and weaves through lush and ferny forest, but can oftentimes be slick or muddy. There are plenty of stone steps to make the constant ascents and descents a little bit easier, but you'll still feel like you're getting a workout! For more information you can click here.
