Australian Cancer Atlas 2.0 Launch
8:30am – 10:30am, 28th May
The Australian Cancer Atlas is an award-winning online platform for demonstrating and investigating the geographical patterns of cancer diagnosis and survival across Australia. It has been used by researchers, patient groups and community groups for research, advocacy, teaching and exploring the drivers of inequalities in cancer outcomes.
Over the past six years we have worked to expand the capabilities of the Australian Cancer Atlas to explore geographic variation in cancer outcomes across Australia more comprehensively.
The Australian Cancer Atlas 2.0 offers users the opportunity to explore:
- how cancer risk factors, cancer screening and testing, and some treatments differ by geography,
- how geographical patterns have changed over time, and
- geographical patterns for common and some rare cancer types.
The platform offers the statistics that can provide novel and critical information about the magnitude and extent of the disparities faced by Australians based on where they live across the whole country.
