Connecting to the Atlas of Living Australia with galah
Martin Westgate

In 2021, the ALA launched galah, a new R package to support querying biodiversity databases using tidyverse principles. In this talk I will discuss the challenges and benefits of our approach, including experiments with non-standard evaluation, querying APIs from different sources, and the challenges of making changes to software with large user-bases.

The Vizumap R Package and VizumApp Shiny App
Lydia Lucchesi, Sam Nelson and Petra Kuhnert
Uncertainty is information often left off maps presenting areal data estimates. The Vizumap R package and VizumApp Shiny app are tools for making maps that include uncertainty. In this talk, we will briefly discuss the four mapping methods made available by the software and our approach to software development. We will showcase several applications of Vizumap and discuss next steps for maintaining and improving these open-source tools.
