ABSTRACT:

The main objective of any breeding program is to select genotypes that perform well in the target population environments (TPEs), i.e. farmer fields. However, genotype-by-environment interaction complicates this selection process, as genotypes could be performed differently in different environments. Therefore, these genotypes are tested in multi-environment trials (METs) to predict their performance in TPEs. The performance in the METs is used to predict the genotype's performance in the TPEs. This talk will provide an overview of the statistical methods used to analyse multi-environment trials in crop breeding.


SPEAKER'S BIO:

 Vivi Arief is currently a Lecturer in Biometry at the University of Queensland. She graduated with a B.Sc. (Hon.) in Agriculture from IPB University (Indonesia) and an MAgrSt and PhD in Plant Breeding and Quantitative Genetics from the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on the area of interface between statistics and plant breeding.
