    Message # 12109618

The New South Wales branch of the Statistical Society of Australia warmly invites all undergraduate, postgraduate and early career statisticians and data scientists to attend our annual event for Early Career and Student Statisticians on Wednesday 1st December 2021 at 6pm. The event will take place at The Occidental (43 York St, Sydney NSW 2000), near Wynyard Station.

This year we have spectacular speakers from several industry sectors and academic backgrounds. The speakers will share stories from their careers and provide insights into their professions. For example, have you wondered what you can do after doing a statistics degree, what it is like to transition from mathematics to statistics, or what other statistics professions are like? Then this event is for you!

After the talks, there will be plenty of time to chat with the speakers over drinks and food and to connect with people from many different areas of statistics and data science. Come join us to discover how analytical techniques translate into pragmatic problem-solving in the real world!

Further more, there will be also a lucky door prize being draw on the day, more details about it will be made available in the reminder email sent closer to the date.

You can RSVP the event following the link: https://statsoc.org.au/event-4559340, please note that you will have to bring your ID on the day.

She is very interested in application of Mathematics and Statistics to Financial modelling, be it for Pricing or Validation or Hedging. Another area of interest is Data Driven Decision Making involving Machine Learning.

    Dean Marchiori (Endeavour Energy)
Dean Marchiori is an Applied Statistician and specialist in advanced data analytics. His interest areas are in time series analysis, geospatial and airborne LiDAR analysis and the R programming language. Dean currently leads the data science team for Endeavour Energy where his work focuses on modelling bush fire and vegetation risk on the electricity network. Dean is a university medal recipient in mathematics. In 2019, he was named one of the top 10 analytics leaders in Australia by the Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia. He is also recognised as an Accredited Statistician with the Statistical Society of Australia, and sits on the SSA committee for Statistical Computing and Visualisation.
