Entries are now open for the 2026 Pacific Dataviz Challenge, with some great prizes on offer.
Pacific Dataviz Challenge 2026
1 June–31 August
Transform numbers into impactful insights through the power of open data and data visualisation—with more than $15,000 USD in total prizes to win.
The Challenge is an annual regional competition, open to all, that promotes innovation and evidence-based Pacific storytelling through data visualisation. It encourages the use of Pacific data, raises awareness of key Pacific development issues, and aims to make Pacific data more accessible and engaging to a wide audience.
This year’s edition focuses on climate change, inviting participants to explore data-driven insights on one of the most pressing challenges facing the Pacific region.
Last year’s Challenge achieved strong results, with:
- Over 300 participants across the Pacific and beyond
- 148 submissions received
- More than 50% of entries coming from secondary schools and universities
What stood out in particular was the strong engagement from schools, with many teachers integrating the Challenge into their curricula and students demonstrating impressive analytical and creative skills.
The 2026 Challenge was officially launched on 28 May at USP in Suva, with over 400 participants attending — it’s really gaining momentum each year.
