    The opportunities that we are offering

    We have multiple opportunities available for Research Scientists who are interested to join our multi-disciplinary research team that specialises within Natural Hazards. We are offering a mix of indefinite and 3-year term positions with locations available across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or remote where requirements can be met.

    About You

    We’re interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate the following: 

    • A PhD in a relevant field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a subcategory in physical sciences or machine learning.  
    • High level computational and programming skills (in Python, R, or C++) to build models that are hybrid in nature using physics driven and/or data driven methods (that may include Bayesian statistics or machine learning methods).  
    • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team, and carry out independent individual research, to achieve organisational goals.  
    • Experience and/or passion working with domain specialists to solve real world environmental problems. 
    • Contemporary software experience including proficiency in programming languages (Python, C/C++), code management and code repositories (desirable for some of our roles). 
    • Experience or interest in involving the development and/or utilisation of technologies for sensing and monitoring in an environmental, industrial or laboratory setting.

    Who is eligible to express their interest

    To be eligible to work within this role in CSIRO you must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, an Australian Permanent Resident, or hold valid working rights throughout the duration of the tenure.
