Fantastic opportunity within the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences at the Swinburne University of Technology. Fixed Term 1.0EFT (with possibility of 3 year extension), Academic Level B, Hawthorn, Melbourne.

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Clinical Trials Biostatistician to join us in the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences.  As the Clinical Trials Biostatistician, you will support the research of senior staff within the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences, and will work with the Mental Health Australia General Clinical Trial Network (MAGNET); a national initiative funded by the Medical Research Future Fund.   You will specifically be working to provide statistical services for clinical trials conducted under the auspices of MAGNET.

The ideal candidate will possess a track-record of supporting clinical research, with a preference for experience in mental health (although not essential). You will have expertise in a range of methodologies, which include (but are not restricted to) design of clinical trial protocols, power analyses for cluster trials, minimisation techniques for the randomisation of treatment allocations, appropriate analysis methodologies and reporting formats for statistical analyses relating to clinical trials.

In addition to the provision of clinical statistical services the position has been designed to create national standard clinical statistical  procedures (SCSPs) for power analysis, treatment allocation, data cleaning, analysis and reporting for MAGNET, while also providing/organising training in other areas such as adaptive trials and machine learning.  A consultative process will be used to a) determine what standardised clinical statistical procedures are required, and b) determine what the training needs are.

You will be expected to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team in order to help the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences to achieve its objectives, as well as the specific objectives of this position.
