    Hi Chris,

NECTAR might be another option? https://support.ehelp.edu.au/support/solutions/articles/6000164849-nectar-r-studio

There are also several "public cloud" providers such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Digital Ocean, Vultr and others that offer cloud servers that are capable of running 20 concurrent Rstudio sessions and run less than $1000/mo. I often use them for teaching purposes instead of setting up 20 different individual computers.  However, the exact set up needed will depend very much on what you want to do and how the job actually runs.

Happy to discuss further if I can help.

    Hi Chris

What about the NCI, they definitely have R:

I don't have any experience with them though, because QUT has their own service.

I need to run a computation in R that would take several years. Luckily I can break it up into 20 parallel programs that I estimate will each take a month or two. My problem is that just about any machine will crunch to almost a halt if you run more than say 4 sessions simultaneously. At least, mine do. So I want to run it on the cloud.

R-studio Cloud does not seem appropriate because you are limited to 160 hours per week and pay 20c per hour after that. I need all 720 hours per month times 20 which is 14400 and is way too costly. So my question is: does anybody know of a cloud based solution to running 20 R-studio sessions 24/7 for a few months that will costs $100s of dollars per month rather than $1000s?
