About us
The National School of Arts and Sciences is one of two national schools in the Faculty of Arts, Sciences, Law and Business. The National School is based on two distinct campuses in Fremantle and Sydney. The School of Arts and Sciences delivers a practical, ethical and industry-focused education in diverse areas of study such as the liberal arts, communications and media, counselling and science, with a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer.
Your role
STEM is heralded as a key driver of future innovation and growth. The School of Arts and Sciences is currently looking for inspiring lecturers to engage undergraduate and postgraduate students in its growing mathematics and data analytics program.
The data analytics program is focused on working with Technology and Applied Studies teachers looking to upskill in programing and computational thinking as part of a Women in STEM Program funded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment, as well as undergraduate students studying data analytics within a multidisciplinary arts program.
You will:
- Conduct digital and face to face lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops and placement supervision.
- Contribute to curriculum innovation and content design.
- Liaise with the program coordinator on the development, administration and promotion of Mathematics and Data Analytics as disciplines.
- Design new courses in areas such as: Introduction to Data Analytics, Predictive Analytics and Principles of Programming;
- Prepare course material, such as: course outlines, assessment tasks and teaching materials;
- Mark assessments for courses in accordance with the University regulations, guidelines and policies; and
- Be available for student consultations in relation to courses.
About you
To be successful, you will have:
- A PhD in mathematics or data analysis (or closely related field).
- Demonstrated experience teaching into relevant areas, including (but not limited to): programming, statistics, and predictive analytics, at a tertiary level.
- Experience with programming languages.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence and experience providing professional learning to teachers.
- Experience in course coordination or curriculum design.
- Quality research or impactful and industry engaged research in mathematics or data analysis.
