The role/Te mahi
Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The Department has a comprehensive programme of teaching, ranging from 100-level classes delivered to hundreds of students to postgraduate papers contributing to Honours and Masters level qualifications. The Department also has an outstanding research profile.
As a Teaching Fellow, you will be required to participate in undergraduate teaching (primarily at 100-level). In particular, you will:
- Support and undertake the transition of online assessment tools for papers in the department.
- assist with revision and development of teaching materials (particularly computer-based questions for 100-level students).
- provide support to the paper convenors of the large 100-level papers.
- coordinate, support and train tutors for the 100-level papers offered in the department.
- contribute to lecturing and delivering of tutorials as required.
- carry out such administrative duties as the Head of Department may require.
Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
- Candidates should preferably have a postgraduate degree in Mathematics or Statistics.
- Experience in teaching Mathematics and Statistics is an advantage.
- Candidates with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics or Statistics will be considered provided they can demonstrate success and/or aptitude in teaching Mathematics and Statistics.

- The position is available for a fixed term period, ending in December 2025. The appointment will commence 1 January 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
- The position is available on a full-time basis. Nevertheless, to allow for flexibility in work-life balance, two fractional appointments at 0.5FTE will be considered.
