Job Opportunity: Research Officer - Data Science/Biostatistician

We are seeking a Research Officer (HEO Level 6) to conduct statistical analyses across multiple projects focussed on understanding and preventing mental and substance use disorders.

• Opportunity to apply your data science and biostatistics skills to contribute to mental health research  

• Work with data across multiple projects at the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use, Camperdown campus

• Full-time, 12 months fixed term contract (with a strong possibility for extension)

• Base salary of $99,455 + 17% superannuation

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Assist with all aspects of data analysis and management including analysis planning, refinement and implementation, data visualisation and reporting

• Lead the management, cleaning, transformation and analysis of research data, ensuring all steps are systematic, well-documented and reproducible.

• independently apply diverse statistical approaches to address novel research questions across a range of datasets including cohort and clinical trial data

• manage data reporting, ensuring data integrity and excellence in research publishing and impact

• work collaboratively within our supportive team

• provide strategic advice on research direction, methodology, and compliance, keeping the team updated

• Advise, liaise and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders both within and outside the University of Sydney
