Young Statisticians’ Conference 2019- Visualising the Future

The organising committee of the Statistical Society of Australia’s 2019 Young Statisticians’ Conference invite early career young statisticians to submit an abstract for an oral presentation.
Invited speakers
This year’s program includes keynote sessions from Dr Alison Presmanes Hill (RStudio), Ms Teresa Dickinson (Australian Bureau of Statistics), Dr Felicity Splatt (Quantium) and Dr Margarita Moreno-Betancur (University of Melbourne). A pre-conference workshop will be conducted by Dr Alison Presmanes Hill on Monday 30 September.
Abstract submission
Abstract submissions can be made via the online portal at https://ysc2019_abstracts.typeform.com/to/CFZC6Z until Saturday 1 June. You will be informed of the status of your submitted abstract by Monday 1 July. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best student presentations.
Video competition
We also encourage you to submit an entry into the YSC2019 Three-minute Video Competition by Sunday 15 September. The aim of this competition is to inspire attendees and those who are unable to attend the conference to showcase their work in a unique way. The winner will be awarded a cash prize. Conference registration

Dennis Trewin prize
The Canberra Branch of the Statistical Society of Australia proudly presents the 2019 Dennis Trewin prize. The Dennis Trewin prize is open to current PhD and Masters students in statistics and related fields in their final year of study, as well as students who have graduated in the last 12 months from an eligible university. Supervisors from ACU (ACT campus), ANU, CSU, SCU (Lismore campus), UCanberra, UArmidale and UNSW (ADFA and ACT campuses) are asked to nominate any number of eligible students by email to SSACanberra@gmail.com. Student will be asked to provide an abstract of their thesis by Friday 29 April. Shortlisted applicants will be notified on Saturday 30 April and will be required to record a 15-20-minute talk on their thesis. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize, registration for the Young Statisticians’ Conference and travel expenses to the ACT and will present a 45-minute seminar on Monday 30 September.
