Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow in Biostatistics (Adaptive Trials)
An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow in the area of adaptive clinical trials to join the Biostatistics Unit within the Research Methodology Division of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. The Biostatistics Unit engages in methodological biostatistical research, collaborative public health/clinical research, postgraduate degree programs in biostatistics, and biostatistical consulting. The Unit’s collaborative research activities span many areas of clinical research and public health, including major community-based trials, large randomised trials in specialist areas such as anaesthesia and intensive care, and clinical disease registries.
The Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow position involves methodological research in the area of adaptive clinical trial designs, including individually and cluster randomised trials, and to be involved in the design, conduct and analysis of adaptive and other randomised trials currently underway or planned in the future. Opportunities exist for adaptive trial methods to be developed and implemented in trials at all phases, from Phase I to Phase IV, and whether using Bayesian or frequentist approaches. Other areas of research can also be considered according to the Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow’s own interests and alignment with those of the Biostatistics Unit.
Appointment at the higher level will require a more substantial track record of grant-funded research and methodological publications.
To be appointable in this role you must hold a doctoral qualification in Statistics or Biostatistics with a track record of developing methodology for, or practical applications of, adaptive trials, with a solid mathematical background and excellent communication and computing skills (e.g. R, Stata).
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
Your application must address the selection criteria. For instructions on how to apply, please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".

Position #2: Clinical Trials Biostatistician
https://careers.pageuppeople.com/513/cw/en/job/614114/research-fellow-senior-research-fellow-in-medical-statistics
Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow in Medical Statistics
This is a new position focussed primarily on the design and analysis of clinical trials with the potential to pursue methodological interests.
The position predominantly involves engagement in multi-centre clinical trials for preventing or treating chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular disease, melanoma and skin cancer. The position will involve applying statistical principles to clinical trials through contributing to trial protocols, evaluating methodological approaches and writing statistical analysis plans, compiling reports for data and safety monitoring boards, undertaking statistical analysis of data from medical research studies, and collaborating closely with medical researchers and health professionals. Appointment at the higher level will require substantial contribution to development of grant applications and pursuit of methodological research.
This position would suit an early career statistician with an interest to focus on clinical trials, and you will receive supervision and guidance from the senior staff of the Biostatistics Unit.
To be appointable in this role you must hold a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area or equivalently a Master’s degree in statistics with health research experience. You must also have familiarity with clinical trials and experience with statistical analysis plans, data and safety monitoring reports, and development of trial protocols.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to "How to apply for Monash Jobs".
