Cancer Data & Information Analytics Manager

    Work type: Fixed Term

    Location: Parkville

Division/Faculty: Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences

Department/School: Melbourne School of Population and Global Health

Salary: $70,600 to $95,800 per annum (Level A)

Role & Superannuation Rate: Academic, Full Time, 9.5% Superannuation

The Cancer Health Services Research Unit is a research group embedded in the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health (MSPGH) of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS), with active collaborations within the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC). The Cancer Health Services Research Unit is to develop a world-class data-driven research program focusing on organisation and access to value-based cancer care as well as the translation and integration of new laboratory findings such as in the field of genomics to improved cancer health services.

We are seeking an experienced data analyst to provide data analytic support to the VCCC clinical trials program. The Cancer Data and Information Analytics Manager will provide specialised statistical and analytical capability to enable the use and reporting of data to inform clinical trial activity across the VCCC. The role requires a proactive and highly motivated individual with strong data science skills, with experience in the health and medical research and/or healthcare sectors, who can support and add value to the work of the VCCC. We are seeking someone who can think outside the square and explore innovative ways to use existing data to measure value of clinical trials.

The VCCC Metrics for Clinical Trial Participation Program is focused on exploring and testing novel clinical trial metrics in a range of facets from trial design to patient recruitment that will not only allow demonstrable improvements in participation, impact and innovation in clinical trials, but also ensure advocacy on the important role clinical trials have in informing clinical practice.

The position will require postgraduate qualifications in public health, statistics and or epidemiology with a demonstrated interest in health services related research and health policy. A track record in conducting research leading to peer review publications is highly desirable. Given the nature of the research, strong quantitative research skills are required demonstrated by advanced data analytic expertise.

The data analyst carries out research and consultation work under direction from Professor Maarten IJzerman Head of the Cancer Health Services Research Unit and Anne Woollett, Head of the Clinical Trials Program of the VCCC.

    Closing date: 30 April 2019
